Nominations For 2016 President's Award For Diversity

April 18, 2016

Each year, President Fry presents the President’s Award for Diversity to deserving individuals or teams in recognition of significant contributions made that promote awareness of and respect for diversity, create opportunities for intercultural engagement, and build upon Drexel’s founding principle of inclusion. All award recipients must be full- or part-time faculty or professional staff members.

There are three categories of awards presented:

The highest honor is the Award for Excellence for Professional Staff, which recognizes excellence and/or innovation that enables the University to fulfill its mission and achieve its goals.

The Civic Engagement Award for Faculty and Professional Staff recognizes the outstanding personal commitment to community engagement, an integral component of Drexel's mission to serve its students and society.

The Intercultural Engagement & Diversity Award for Faculty and Professional Staff recognizes and honors significant contributions that promote awareness of and respect for diversity, create opportunities for intercultural engagement, and build upon Drexel's founding principle of inclusion.

Along with the honor and prestige that come with winning any of the awards, there is also a cash prize.  Individual award recipients receive $1,500; teams receive up to $5,000 (maximum $1,000 per individual).  In addition, winners of the Civic Engagement Award may designate a charity of his/her choice to also receive $1,000.

Two teams from the College of Nursing and Health Professions have been selected in the past.  In 2009, Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services won President’s Award for Intercultural Engagement & Diversity, and in 2013 the RN-BSN Online Team won the Award for Excellence.

Nominations for the 2016 President’s Award for Diversity open in June and will be awarded in November.  For more information, nomination criteria, and to view past recipients, please visit the President’s Awards webpage.
