A Message From Dean Gloria Donnelly
April 18, 2016
Six years ago, I took to the stage for a stand up
comedy show benefitting students in the College of Nursing & Health Professions. The inaugural endeavor was a huge success, resulting in raising more than $60,000 used to establish a student emergency fund.
Though I’m certainly not a comedian by trade, humor plays an important role in my work as a nurse and as a psychologist. I’ve always believed in the healing power of a good laugh, and know the incredible value of a smile and a punch line.
This year, to mark my stepping down from the Deanship, I’ve decided to try out some new material to benefit the same worthy cause – our students - future nurses and health care professionals. My partners in laughter, Steve DiPietro, Associate Vice Provost, Ron Comer, Chair, Department of Behavioral Health Sciences and I have been hard at work preparing to once again, dazzle an audience with our comedic chops. Proceeds from STaND UP for the College of Nursing and Health Professions will provide financial support to assist students with short-term financial emergencies, including family emergencies, books, supplies and room and board expenses.
I look forward to seeing everyone at curtain call!
Sincerely,
Gloria F. Donnelly, PhD, RN, FAAN, FCPP
Dean and Professor
