Joke Bradt, PhD received the 2014 Research and Publication Award from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). She was fortunate to have her mentor, John Creswell, PhD, present at the award ceremony.  Bradt co-presented a workshop ‘Research Proposal Development’ at the AMTA conference in Louisville, Kentucky.  She also presented a lecture on her recently completed NIH study ‘The impact of vocal music therapy on core outcomes in chronic pain management.’ Finally, she co-presented with PhD student, Noah Potvin, ‘Digging underneath the surface: Music therapy and symptom management in cancer care.’ This lecture was based on qualitative findings from a mixed methods research study Bradt conducted at Hahnemann hospital.

Bradt’s Cochrane systematic review on Music interventions for psychological and physical outcomes in cancer patients is the ‘top hitter’ (based on Altmetric score) of all reviews of the Cochrane Gynaecologic, Neuro-oncology and Orphan Cancer Group.  The Altmetric score is a measure of the quality and quantity of online attention a publication receives.  This review as well as several other Cochrane systematic reviews by Bradt currently score in the top 5% of all articles (2,570,394 articles across all journals) ever tracked by Altmetric.
