Donna Mueller Publishes Chapter on Diet and Exercise and Cystic Fibrosis

September 25, 2014

Donna Mueller, PhD, a former associate professor in the Nutrition Sciences Department who retired earlier this year, has co-authored the chapter “Nutrition for Pregnant Women Who Have Cystic Fibrosis” in the book Diet and Exercise in Cystic Fibrosis. Published by Elsevier, an imprint of the Academic Press, the book is an electronic publication with embedded references which are able to be accessed electronically. Mueller finds that this solely electronic approach to publication is contemporary and complements Drexel’s focus on technology solutions that aid research and learning.

The book includes detailed resources reviewing the health problems occurring in Cystic Fibrosis relative to dietary, complementary and alternative therapies. It contains expert evaluation on the role of foods and exercise for lifelong management of Cystic Fibrosis to maintain intestinal, hepatic, and pulmonary high quality function for improved quality of life. The book also defines and evaluates various nutritional and dietary approaches to the unique problems of those living with the disease.
