Alumna Circles Back,
Joins Faculty in Integrative Therapies

Kristen Hanvey, MSN,
PMHNP-BC, CCIT, ‘09/’10, an alumna of the College of Nursing and Health
Professions, joins Drexel’s Program in Complementary and Integrative Therapies
as an adjunct assistant professor. Her career has spanned both allopathic and
integrative healthcare throughout the last three decades. Hanvey has worked as
a Registered Nurse since 1987 and in both the inpatient and outpatient settings
as a Psychiatric Nurse. She worked in corporate management at Blue Cross Blue
Shield of Syracuse, New York and Cigna HealthCare in Chicago.
Hanvey owns a successful private practice, Asheville
Holistic Healthcare, PLLC, located in North Carolina, where she integrates
holistic mental healthcare within the framework of conventional medicine. In
her practice, she integrates phytomedicines, nutraceuticals, and prescription
medications, orders lab work, genetic tests, and recommends integrative
mind/body modalities to clients to help them optimize their health. In
addition, she is contracted as the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner
by two wilderness programs: Trails Carolina, which serves children, and Four
Circles Recovery, where she works with young adults with co-occurring substance
abuse and mental health problems. She also serves the Medicaid population at
Caring for Children. Hanvey prides herself on uniquely uncovering each person’s
needs and developing and individualized care plan.
Hanvey attended the Drexel University College of Nursing and
Health Professions and graduated with her BSN in 2009 She was later awarded a
Graduate Certificate of Advanced Study in Complementary and Integrative
Therapies in 2010. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2010
with a MSN degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing and is ANCC
certified. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association
(APNA) and the Blue Ridge Holistic Nurses. Hanvey is an avid reader, learner,
and teacher. She is a certified yoga teacher, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist
(PRYT) and Reiki Master. She is excited to join the faculty at her alma mater!
