Jennifer Nasser, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences, was one of six winners of Drexel University’s Clinical & Translational Research Institute (CTRI) Seed Fund Competition. Of the 35 excellent proposals, Dr. Nasser’s submission was one of six projects selected for approximately $75,000 of funding. Her proposal was titled fNIRS assessment of dorsolateral and dorsomedial prefrontal cortex in response to food as a marker for “loss of control.”

Vicki Schwartz, PhD, an assistant clinical professor in the Nutrition Sciences Department, successfully defended her dissertation on May 13 at Rutgers University-UMDNJ. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition (DNC).

Nancy Gerber, PhD, delivered the keynote speech at the 3^rd Annual Research Symposium sponsored by the Graduate Department of Marital and Family Therapy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Her address was titled “Art Therapy Research: Origins and Destinations.”

Joke Bradt, PhD, music therapist and associate professor in the PhD Program in Creative Arts Therapies, and PhD candidate and dance/movement therapist Minjung Shim, presented at the 33^rd Scientific Meeting of the American Pain Society in Tampa, Florida. They presented a symposium titled “The Use of Creative Arts Therapies for Chronic Pain Management: Embodied Interventions,” together with Eva Bojner-Horwitz, professor and dance/movement therapist at Uppsala University in Sweden, and Molly O’Neill Haaga, art therapist and doctoral student at Lesley University.
