The Drexel University Nursing Education Institute (DUNEI) is fast approaching. The conference will take place from Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 19 at The Marriot Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes in sunny Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There is still time to learn more about DUNEI and to register to attend. The four-day institute brings together nurse educators from across the nation who will present during more than 40 concurrent available sessions.

This year’s conference themes include:

• New Techniques in Nursing Professional Development
• Research Education
• Technology in Education
• Accreditation Requirements.

A regular feature of the DUNEI conference is the Bayada Breakfast, which is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, June 17 this year. Two $10,000 cash prizes will be awarded to this year’s winners of the Bayada Award for Technological Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice. One prize will be presented to a nursing educator or a practicing nurse whose innovation leads to improved nursing education and student outcomes. The second will be given to a nursing educator or practicing nurse whose innovation leads to improved patient care and patient care outcomes.

The Bayada Award for Technical Innovation in Nursing Education and Practice was created in 2004 to acknowledge nurses who have made a significant contribution to nursing education or practice via the development and/or adoption of a new technology. The Bayada Award is funded by J. Mark Baiada, founder of Bayada Home Health Care, and his wife, benefactor Ann Baiada.

There are only a few days left to submit applications for the Bayada Award; the deadline for submissions is May 23, 2014.
