Students in the second class of the Macy Leadership Program at the College are currently enrolled in a unique course called Group Dynamics and Leading Teams. Dr. Jennifer Olszewski, and assistant clinical professor in the BSN Co-op Department, and Phi Nguyen, Director of Student Affairs, Center City, actively engaged students in learning about emotional intelligence and diagnosing opportunities and threats that face teams. They enhanced students’ insight into team communication and diversity consciousness.

The Macy Undergraduate Leadership Program is a voluntary for-credit leadership certificate program aimed at molding students from the College of Nursing and Health Professions into future leaders in the healthcare field. The program curriculum and activities are focused on leadership development skills, interprofessional learning, and the development of cultural awareness and sensitivity. The Macy Leadership Seven Commitments are Democracy, Growth and Change, Mutual Respect, Emotional Intelligence, Intra- and Interpersonal Learning, Open Communication, and Social Responsibility.

Student selection for the Macy Program is based on a competitive application process that is open to current College of Nursing and Health Professions undergraduate students across disciplines. Only completed applications received by the deadline will be considered. Consideration will first be given to students committed to taking all three of the required courses. Senior students are not eligible to apply.
