Drexel Launches Dragon Nutrition
February 28, 2014
The Office of University Wellness is introducing a new program for all benefit-eligible employees called Dragon Nutrition. The program will pair a Drexel University registered dietitian with an employee for a series of one-on-one nutritional consultations. Dragon Nutrition is free for all employees who are eligible to receive medical coverage through the University. News of this program for faculty and staff comes on the heels of a similar announcement released this fall stating that no-cost nutrition counseling would be available to all Drexel students.
“This program is happening because of the forward thinking of Professor Nyree Dardarian, Director of the Center for Integrated Nutrition & Performance,” said Dr. Stella Volpe, Chair of the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the College. “I congratulate her and her team for starting what will be a great program!”
Employees that take advantage of the new benefit will typically be offered three consultation sessions to help them pinpoint what choices and behaviors need improvement. The Registered Dietitian will provide personalized recommendations to help the employee live their best life.
Interested in trying out this new service? Here is what you can expect:
Session 1: The RD will get to know you by asking questions about your dietary history, family and personal past medical history, and by taking measurements to determine your Body Mass Index (BMI).
Session 2: The RD will help you to build a healthy meal plan that fits your lifestyle.
Session 3: The RD will help you leave with better habits. The final session will teach you how to incorporate mindfulness and intuitive behaviors to make healthy eating easier.
Dragon Nutrition sessions will be held at the Drexel Recreation Center at 33rd and Market Streets on the University City Campus. To book a Dragon Nutrition appointment, please contact Morgan Kilroy at mak384@drexel.edu or call 215-571-3834.
