Second HSAD Summer Institute a Success
August 13, 2014
The second annual Health Services Administration Summer Institute was held July 14-18, 2014. Eight high school juniors learned about various aspects of health administration, including marketing, emergency preparedness, managed care reimbursement, non-profit organization management, risk management, health care ethics, and leadership skills.
The institute was highly successful and four students reported in their evaluations that they would definitely pursue health administration as a career goal. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates a 22% increase in health care managers between now and the year 2020. For this reason the Health Services Administration Department expects that as more students and advisors learn about the varied career paths that exist, the program will continue to grow.
