“We do so many incredible things here at Drexel, so it is important to me to showcase it. This column gives me an opportunity to do just that,” said Karen Goldschmidt, an assistant clinical professor and Chair of the RN-BSN Completion Department at the College of Nursing and Health Professions. As part of her mission to showcase the outstanding nursing work done at the College, Goldschmidt has been a regular technology column writer for the Journal of Pediatric Nursing for the past three years.

Goldschmidt’s columns address a wide range of topics from Thanatechnology, or the use of social networks to express feelings of grief in teens, to the use of technology to promote smoking cessation in adolescents. The column allows her to depict exciting new research as well as the commitment to a technology-infused education model used here at the College.

Goldschmidt also views her position as a columnist as a medium to allow other College faculty members to have an opportunity to contribute to the journal. Cheryl Mele and Sue Solecki, two other assistant clinical professors at the College, are guest writers for the column. “My goal is to highlight what we are doing in nursing at Drexel and help other faculty and/or students publish or connect with authors from other Children’s Hospitals around the country,” ended Goldschmidt.
