Drexel to Pioneer First Integrative Addictions Therapy Certificate Program

April 22, 2014

The College of Nursing and Health Professions and Drexel Online have created the world’s very first graduate certificate program in Integrative Addictions Therapy which is slated to begin in Fall 2014. The Advanced Study in Integrative Addiction Therapies (ASIAT) certificate program is a unique program which teaches students the holistic nature of providing care to clients.

“Students will learn how to integrate evidence-based complementary and integrative therapies such as neuroscience, neurofeedback, meditation, auricular acupuncture, and Qigong bioenergy therapies within the framework of conventional healthcare,” said Stephanie Ross, Director of the Complementary and Integrative Therapy Program at the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This program prepares future practitioners to deliver caring and innovative healthcare to underserved populations.

The ASIAT Program will be taught by internationally-recognized leaders in Complementary and Integrative Therapies as well as by psychotherapists and neuroscientists in the field of Integrative Addiction Therapies from within the College and from around the country. “This innovative, pioneering program is designed to empower practitioners to utilize complementary and integrative therapies within the scope of conventional healthcare practice to treat substance use disorders and associated comorbidities in order to enhance patient outcomes,” Ross continued.

The ASIAT program is comprised of four main courses: Holistic living for the Caregiver, Foundations of Integrative Addiction Therapies, Spirituality Empowerment Transformation, and Introduction to Nutritional Neuroscience. Each course will be available in a unique and dynamic online course format through Drexel Online.

Post-baccalaureate students, post-master’s students, and current Drexel master’s or doctoral students are eligible to apply for the program. The deadline to apply is August 8, 2014. Click here to learn more about the Certificate in the Advanced Study in Integrative Addiction Therapies.
