Veronica Carey Appointed Chair of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association Academy

Veronica Carey, PhD, an assistant
clinical professor in the Behavioral Health Counseling Department and Associate
Director of the Department’s Saturday Scholars Program, has been appointed as
the first Chair of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (PRA) Academy.
After being named Chair during a recent convening of the PRA Education and
Training Strategy Taskforce, Carey learned that she will assume the role of
governing the planning and execution of the National Recovery Workforce Summit
for PRA in Baltimore, Maryland in June 2014. In addition, as Chair of the
Academy, Carey will support international education and the sponsorship of
trainings for implementation of psychiatric rehabilitation in countries seeking
to enhance their behavioral health service systems.
With Carey as Chair of the PRA Academy, the
College of Nursing and Health Professions will gain increased visibility in
areas of President Fry’s strategic plan, including enhancement of Drexel’s
global impact and creation of a nexus for research, technology and economic
development.
