Second Edition of Beth Leonberg’s Pocket Guide to Pediatric Nutrition Assessment Published

October 9, 2013

Beth Leonberg, an assistant clinical professor in the Nutrition Sciences Program and Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics, recently published the second edition of her guidebook, The Pocket Guide to Pediatric Nutrition Assessment. Available both in print and online forms, this comprehensive guide provides information on nutrition assessment and requirements for all children, from newborn infants to 18 year-olds. More specifically, the guide includes ample descriptions of screening assessments, health history development, diet, nutrient requirements, and anthropometric assessment. “Rather than being a text that professionals read in its entirety, the pocket guide is designed to be a quick reference for registered dietitians and other health care professionals,” said Leonberg. “It provides information on performing and interpreting all of the key assessments used to evaluate nutritional status in infants, children, and adolescents,” she explained.  The second edition of the pocket guide also features additional material on vitamin D as well as the World Health Organization’s growth chart.
