Center City Student Affairs Leads Volunteer Fair for College of Nursing and Health Profession Students

October 24, 2013

Volunteer fair 2On October 1, the Center City Student Affairs Office of Drexel University led a volunteer fair for all College of Nursing and Health Professions students in the New College Building’s Geary Auditorium Lobby. With the assistance of Drexel’s Lindy Scholars Program, Student Affairs was able to bring in various volunteer groups so that students could have a chance to get involved in the community. Students had the chance to meet with current Drexel student leaders in service.

Ericka Hall, Student Affairs intern for the Center City Campus, was in charge of promotion for the fair. “Since CNHP students are always busy,” she said, “they often don’t have the time to think about giving back to the community, so we try to make it easier for them.”

Students who attended had the opportunity to speak with various representatives of each volunteer organization and sign up for any group that appealed to them. Some of the organizations represented were the Lift Scholars, Habitat for Humanity, MANNA, the Old Pine Community Center, and Rising Stars. Various brochures and prizes were handed out to students at each organization’s booth.

Center City Student Affairs conducts a volunteer fair once per term. Students who missed the recent volunteer fair still have an opportunity to get involved in the community. The Lindy Scholars Office, which is located on the second floor at 3210 Cherry Street, is always open and will help any Drexel student in their search for volunteer opportunities.
