Stella Volpe Published in Advanced Nutrition

Stella Volpe, PhD, a professor and Chair of the Nutrition Sciences Department at Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions, published a journal article entitled “Magnesium in Disease Prevention and Overall Health” in the May 2013 issue of Advanced Nutrition. In the article, Volpe explains the importance of Magnesium, a cofactor mineral responsible for more than 300 different metabolic reactions in the body such as cellular energy storage and protein synthesis. Volpe illustrates Magnesium’s role in disease prevention and overall health through presenting various research studies on the effects of magnesium on the body while also pointing out foods that are rich sources of Magnesium.
