October 24, 2013
Stephen Gambescia, PhD, a clinical professor in the Department of Health Services Administration, presented at an international conference in New York in mid-August around the theme, Poeticizing the Urban Apparatus: Scenes of Innovation. Also presenting was the former Drexel Great Works Symposium fellow Saeed Hydaralli, PhD, from York University in Toronto. Gambescia’s presentation was titled, “Running the Urban Landscape: Reconstructing Risks.” It showed the dialectic between one of the most natural activities (running) in one of the most contrived environments (the city). Hydaralli presented on “Innovation and Urban Mobility.” A strong international spirit and interest in urban innovation was shown by presenters from Canada, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, England, Germany, Ecuador, Australia, the Netherlands, and many U.S. cities.
