November 13, 2013

On October 17, Drexel University’s Physician Assistant Department participated in the Annual PA Education Conference in Memphis, Tennessee. At the conference, assistant clinical professors Julie Kinzel, Charles Stream and Adrian Banning, associate clinical professor Nina Multak, clinical instructor Annie Madden, and Department Chair Patrick Auth, PhD, presented on a variety of topics.

Charles Stream and Adrian Banning gave a verbal presentation titled Staying Up-To-Date: Have Medical Information Come to You. According to Banning and Stream, medical information is vital to healthcare professionals, but accessing it can be a confusing and time-consuming task. They presented on a program called ACCESSSS, which makes it easier to access medical journals and literature. According to Stream, “a person can search keywords like discipline or age group or rate what they are interested in, and it will bring the information to you, which makes it much easier.”

Nina Multak also gave a presentation, A Stepwise Approach to Curriculum Development in PA Education: Integration of Simulation-Based Education Strategies, in which she introduced a curriculum model based on simulation in the PA Program at Drexel. Her goal was to present on how to effectively and efficiently integrate simulation experiences into Physician Assistant programs to serve students’ needs.

Annie Madden , Julie Kinzel, and Dr. Patrick Auth presented An Assessment of a Cultural Competency. Auth, Chair of the PA Department at the CNHP, also presented on program directorship with faculty from the University of North Dakota, University of Colorado, and Downstate Medical Center. Finally, Auth also presented Leading in a Crisis with colleagues from Boston University, the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, and the University of Southern California.
