Nutrition Sciences Department Helps University Win Healthy Workplace Award

August 29, 2013

Drexel University was the only college or university nationally to win a Well Workplace Award from The Wellness Council of America this year. The University received a Well Workplace Gold Award, which is awarded to organizations whose comprehensive workplace wellness programs are an integral, strategic, and results-oriented part of the organization.

The College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Department of Nutrition Sciences is listed as a contributor to the success of Drexel’s Proactive Health offerings, one of the primary reasons why Drexel was given the award. The integrated onsite proactive health model delivers services and programming to Drexel faculty, students and staff using a holistic approach. At Drexel’s Recreation Center, University employees can access nutritionists, personal training, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, therapeutic massage, and physical therapy.

Drexel’s A Healthier U program also contributed to the receipt of the Gold Award. By way of A Healthier U, the Drexel community can participate in weight management programs, walking clubs and a meditation group.
