Community Service within the Physician Assistant Department

As part of on-going effort to encourage physician assistant students to provide service and promote primary care in the community, the following health education workshops were conducted by Physician Assistant students.

10 physician assistant students conducted two workshops: “Elderly Fall Prevention” and “Managing Diabetes Mellitus” at the Spring Garden Senior Center, Philadelphia, PA. Daniela Livingston, MD, PA-C, Clinical Instructor, faculty advisor.

15 physician assistant students conducted three workshops: “Nutrition and Diet” ”Personal Hygiene” and “Self-Esteem” at the Vare Recreation Center, Southeast Philadelphia, Kathryn Grayce - Barnes, MHS, PA-C, Clinical Instructor, Adrian Banning, MMS, PA-C, Clinical Instructor, and Patrick Auth, PhD, MS, PA-C, Clinical Associate Professor, faculty advisors.

10 physician assistant students conducted two workshops: “Early Detection of Prostate Cancer” and “Stroke Prevention” for the employees of the St. John’s Hospice, Philadelphia, PA, Kathryn Grayce, MHS, PA-C, Clinical Instructor, and Patrick Auth, PhD, MS, PA-C, Clinical Associate Professor, faculty advisors.

10 physician assistant students conducted two workshops: “Stroke Prevention” and “Prevention Strategies for Pre-Diabetic Conditions” for the residents at the Atria Center (retirement community, assisted living), Philadelphia, PA. 15 physician assistant students conducted three workshops: “Respecting Adults” “Benefits of a Healthy Breakfast” and “Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion on the Playground and at Home” at the Smith Playground in Southeast Philadelphia, PA.
