PhD Passing Grade and Course Repeat Policy

PhD students have to achieve a grade B or better in all required classes, and a grade C or better in electives. Please consult the course catalog for the definition of required, non-elective classes (like BMES 501, 505, 510, 546, etc.). You will need to retake required classes when failed, and PhD committees may suggest taking additional courses. You can exercise the petition option to retake your course if your grade is B- or below, according to a Provost petition policy.

MS Passing Grade and Course Repeat Policy

MS students have to obtain a grade C or better in all courses. This is consistent with most course prerequisites. You have to retake the course if your grade is below C, and as long as you are in good academic standing.

If you achieve a B- or below, you have the option to request retaking a course, according to a Provost petition policy.
