Mark Schafer and Colleagues Receive a Drexel-Salus Aging Pilot Research Award October 27, 2024 Mark E. Schafer, PhD, research professor, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, along with Joshua M. Greene, MD, FAAO, and Elise B. Ciner, OD, FAAO, both from Salus at Drexel University Health, received a one-year, $5,000 Drexel-Salus Aging Pilot Research Award for his project titled, “Low-Cost Screening Protocol for Early Detection of Macular Degeneration." Dr. Schafer's project was one of the four Drexel-Salus Aging Areas of Excellence and Opportunity (AEO) Pilot Proposals selected for funding. The Drexel-Salus Aging Pilot Research Award program was developed to enable teams of faculty and students across Drexel and Salus to spend a year engaged in interdisciplinary research that aligns with the Drexel Areas of Excellence and Opportunity: Aging focused on Health Innovation or Health Equity and Wellness.
