Dr. Suresh Joshi Is Nominated as USA’s Technical Expert on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) March 19, 2022 >Dr. Suresh Joshi, MD, PhD, and research professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, was nominated as the USA’s expert on non-thermal plasma-based technologies through the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in Geneva, Switzerland in December 2021. The nomination was based on Dr. Joshi’s expertise and contributions to non-thermal plasma-based technologies and their applications in biomedical science and infection control. This nomination was proposed by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to IEC. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and IEC are global bodies for the setting of international standards and are composed of technical experts and representatives from various national standards organizations of member countries. Dr. Joshi serves on the Technical Committee (TAG/TC-62-D) and associated working groups formed for medical instrumentation and biomedical safety and evaluation. His conformation took place in February 2022.
