BIOMED Students Win Wound-Closure Category of the 2015 Coulter College Design Competition

Dimitri Arhontoulis, BS/MS student in BIOMED; Kimberly Chan, BS/MS student in BIOMED; Andrew Ellinger, BS student in BIOMED; Sachin Gandhi, BS/MD student in BIOMED and CoM; Gabrielle Herrmann, BS/MS student in BIOMED; and Iden Kurtaliaj, BS/MS student in BIOMED (Team advisors: Wan Shih, PhD, and Michael Weingarten, MD – CoM), won the Wound-Closure category of the 2015 Coulter College Design Competition, held August 13–16, 2015 in Coral Gables, FL. The goal of the project was to increase the durability of wound closure in obese patients following laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
