Leah Schinasi is an environmental and occupational epidemiologist who researchers the acute and chronic health effects of environmental exposures. Dr. Schinasi’s research interests include environmental justice, the cardio-respiratory impacts of extreme weather events, and urban greenspace. Dr. Schinasi received a Dornsife Urban Health Collaborative pilot award to investigate associations between temperature and infant mortality in Philadelphia, PA, and potential modification of this relationship by urban green space and socio-demographic neighborhood characteristics, and an American Heart Association career development award to explore the mechanisms by which urban greenspace protects against cardiovascular mortality.
