Digital Twin/Heavy Merge Panel Discussion
September 30, 2025
Join us Tuesday, September 30 from 5-7pm for an energetic panel discussion exploring the themes behind our summer exhibitions, Digital Twin and Heavy Merge. Moderated by Evangelia G. Chrysikou, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, the discussion will examine the complex relationship between humanity and technology, the ‘internal machineries’ of our brains and our bodies, and the implications for the future of our physical-digital selves.
Participants include Micah Lockman‑Fine (curator of Digital Twin), Carolyn Healy (sculptor for Heavy Merge) and John Phillips (audio-video artist for Heavy Merge), and Tim Gorichanaz, Ph.D. (Professor of Information Science).
Digital Twin showcases Drexel Westphal faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students who transform human experience through digital rendering, exploring the sublime and chilling effects of technology on physical and psychological existence. In Heavy Merge, Carolyn Healy and John Phillips present a personal reflection on the brain and its complex matrix of neurons and synapses that give rise to consciousness.
Enjoy refreshments and mingle with the artists and panel participants before and after the discussion.
