With Many women entering the workforce in the 1970's, fashion turned towards a more practical style for daywear.  Giorgio Armani introduced a subtle and sophisticated take on 1980's "power-dressing" with his preference for unadorned neutral textiles and broad padded shoulders.  Accordingly, Armani was a favorite with high-level female executives.
