Code.org K-5 Teacher Workshop
The ExCITe Center at Drexel University,
November 1, 2014
Code.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding involvement in computer science by making the subject more accessible to students. Their mission is to make computer science classes a core part of school curricula alongside other STEM courses, also hoping to increase the involvement of women and students of color. Started in 2013 with the vision of bringing this opportunity to as many students as possible, Code.org has inspired 45 million students to try their "Hour of Code" program, has their introductory course featured in 46,000 classrooms, and trained more than 700 new teachers in the summer of 2014.
As a part of Code.org's mission to train teachers to teach this new type of curricula, ExCITe is pleased to announce that there will be a Code.org K-5 workshop at the ExCITe Center at Drexel University on Saturday, November 1st from 9-5pm, led by workshop facilitator Harvey Scribner. We invite educators to come out and learn how to teach using Code.org's Code Studio courses for K-5 students to help bring computer programming to even more students.
Please be informed that you must sign up for a Teacher account on Code.org prior to attending this workshop, and that you are responsible for bringing your own computer. Light refreshments will be served, so please contact excitedesk@drexel.edu prior to the event if you have any allergies. Necessary technology information can be found here prior to the event.
Walk-ins are welcome (and feel free to bring a friend), but space will be limited. RSVP here!
