Dr. Youngmoo Kim, director of the Expressive and Creative Interaction Technologies (ExCITe) Center, associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and assistant dean of engineering for Media Technologies, will serve as a panelist at “Learning Through the Arts” on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium. This talk focuses on using the arts to foster learning, motivation and success for urban students and will include a special performance by DANCO 3. A panel of invited artists and scholars will also discuss and showcase the significance of the arts to education.

The L2Ork Laptop Orchestra will perform at The ExCITe Center with guest dancer, Jillian Harris and Jae Hoon Lim from Temple University. L2Ork (pronounced as lohrk) is the world's first orchestra of its kind built on Linux. In its current form L2Ork relies mainly upon Pure-Data real-time graphical programming environment for audio, video, and graphics processing.

Drexel Engineering will host part two of the Dean’s Lecture Series on April 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Mitchell Auditorium with Dr. Adam Fontecchio, professor of electrical and computer engineering, associate dean of undergraduate affairs, and associate director of the ExCITe Center. Fontecchio will lecture on the origin and mission of Drexel’s ExCITe Center - a hub for enabling teams of faculty, students and entrepreneurs to pursue highly multi-disciplinary collaborative projects in engineering, fashion design, digital media, performing arts, computer and information science, product design and many other fields.
