Young Dragons
Middle School Summer STEAM Program
Registration for Young Dragons Middle School STEAM camps is open for summer 2024! Join the fun at Drexel’s ExCITe Center this summer exploring topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).
Young Dragons is a series of free weekly camps for rising 6th-8th grade students that live or attend school in West Philadelphia. Each week long camp will provide students the opportunity to explore different STEAM topics through fun hands on projects and activities.
This year we are excited to offer four weeks of camps running daily from 9am - 3pm. Detailed descriptions of the camps can be found on the registration page and individual weekly registration is required.
The deadline for application materials is June 7th. Student registration and participation is not confirmed until all required documents have been submitted. Our team will follow up with additional paperwork that must be completed before your students participation is guarenteed.

About the Program
The Young Dragons program is a summer camp offered by the ExCITe Center at Drexel University. Since launching the Young Dragons partnership in 2016, we have been providing innovative science, technology, engineering, arts/athletics, and mathematics (STEAM) activities to middle school students living in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone. Throughout the program, we incorporate the scientific method, the engineering process, and arts & design to facilitate the development of agency and strengthening of creativity and self-expression.
Past Activities
Young Dragons ran virtually during the summers of 2020 and 2021. Check out the sidebar for virtual activities from these years. The virtual activities from 2020 are not structured and can be done on your own time!
