Summer STEAM Education Program for High School Students

The Summer Music Technology (SMT) program at Drexel was an innovative educational experience for high school students that used music to motivate greater interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program was initially developed with the support of the National Science Foundation and has served more than 200 students since our first cohort in 2007.  We firmly believe that creating and making are the best ways to learn, not only for students, but for us as program developers, thereore all SMT activities involved hands-on, project-based learning. We applied our expertise in music, technology, engineering, computing, and science to design every aspect of the curriculum, incorporating our custom-developed iPad apps.
