MET-Lab

Music Entertainment Technology Lab

The Music and Entertainment Technology Laboratory (MET-lab) pursues transdisciplinary research at the convergence of media and technology, particularly in the areas of sound and music. The MET-lab's primary research focuses on the following music and entertainment applications:

  • Music information retrieval: AI for understanding music and sound
  • New interfaces and robotics for expressive interaction
  • K-12 STEAM and Maker education

Among the research projects supported by the MET-lab are the magnetic resonator piano, emotion recognition in music, musically-aware humanoid robots, and many more. The MET-lab hosts the Summer Music Technology program, an innovative one-week learning experience for Philadelphia-area high school students.
