The Office of Research & Innovation provides financial and administrative support for research core facilities that are centrally-reporting. These core facilities allow the presence of specialized instruments and personnel that individual laboratories cannot afford, making research more efficient and cost effective. Personnel in the cores provide expertise on the capabilities of their instruments and services and develop new applications for their techniques. The cores provide training and support for user operated instruments.
Cell Imaging Center (CIC)

Dr. Sreenivasappa the Microscope Facility Manager at Drexel University's Cell Imaging Center (CIC). She is responsible for the everyday running and troubleshooting of CIC’s eight imaging platforms, which offer a variety of imaging applications including super-resolution, laser scanning confocal, and two-photon intravital imaging. She provides consultation on imaging experimental design and image analysis and also train researchers on all imaging platforms in the core facility. She also performs administrative duties like processing of invoices, documenting instrument usage, and assist in writing shared instrument grants.
Materials Characterization Core (MCC)

Dr. Johnson manages day to day operations of the Materials Characterization Core. He also manages transmission electron microscopy and focused ion beam instrumentation in the facility.
University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR)

Dr. Huneke serves as the Attending Veterinarian for Drexel University. He advises investigators and research personnel on protocol planning, conducts programs of disease detection and surveillance, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. He advises and oversees animal handling and restraint, use of anesthetics, analgesics and euthanasia, surgical and post-surgical care, and the promotion and monitoring of physical and psychological well-being. He oversees the adequacy of the husbandry program, training of staff in the care and use of laboratory animals and assists in the establishment of occupational health and safety.
University Research Computing Facility (URCF)

Dr. Chin administers the URCF high performance computing cluster(s), including all hardware and software. He assists researchers with running computational work on the cluster(s), including transferring existing desktop workflows to a clustered system, and on-going support. He keeps usage accounting records and generate monthly reports for RCM billing. He also manages the URCF Data Center, handling infrastructure maintenance, and facilitating researchers with co-locating servers in the data center.
