Third International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics
Cognitive Neuroengineering & Applications
Hosted by ITAP, Marmaris, Turkey
June 30 - July 5, 2014
Abstract - The Third International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics will focus on Cognitive Performance. The event aims to bring together experts, academicians, researchers, scientists, and students in cognitive, computational and experimental neuroscience, neuroimaging and engineering with a special interest in understanding and studying brain dynamics and cognitive function under various conditions. Cognition encapsulates a series of mental processes including attention, working & episodic memory, producing and understanding language, learning & training, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making. Significant progress has been made over the last decades in understanding the physiological and neural bases of cognitive processes and behavior. The advent of new and improved brain imaging tools, that allow monitoring brain activity noninvasively and in ecologically valid environments, is expected to allow better identification of neurophysiological markers of human performance, human computer interaction as well as biomarkers for cognitive disorders, new clinical approaches ranging from diagnosis to rehabilitation.
The summer school and workshop target junior and senior level researchers, scientists, engineers, clinicians, mathematicians, physicists, biologists, medical and clinical researchers as well as students in these fields, to inform them about the state of the art topics and recent advances in research on cognitive performance.
The main topics that will be covered in the third International Summer School and Workshop on Brain Dynamics – Cognitive Performance will include but are not limited to:
- Cognitive workload, fatigue, sleep deprivation and aging effects on cognitive decline
- Brain plasticity, learning and training to improve cognitive functioning, skill acquisition
- Effects of brain injury, neurodevelopmental, neurological and psychological disease and disabilities on cognitive performance
- Cognitive performance remediations, neural stimulation, neuro-rehabilitation, brain computer interfaces
- Neuroergonomics, human computer interaction, Neurolearning, Neuropolitics
The Summer School program is designed to allow time for small research group meetings, graduate thesis review and multi-institutional proposal writing.
