MCRC Senior Research Scientists Present New Medical Cannabis Research Findings

For the last several years, senior research scientists Janna Ataiants, DrPH, and Ekaterina Federova, DrPH, have been a working for a NIDA-funded cohort study of young adult cannabis users in Los Angeles.

They are currently working on the Drexel University’s Medical Cannabis Research Center (MCRC)’s team as Co-Investigators on the Patient Registry Study, which tracks health trends and use patterns for medical cannabis patients in the commonwealth.

At the first MCRC event of the 2024-25 academic year, attendees heard about their research.

Dr. Ataiants's research examines how gender, social contexts, and marginalization shape drug use experiences. Dr. Ataiants presented on her new manuscript titled, “Assessing Anxiety Longitudinally Among Medical Cannabis Patients in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Fedorova's past work included psychological counseling and research within HIV prevention cohort studies among opioid injectors in St. Petersburg, Russia. Dr. Federova presented on her new manuscript titled, “Terpene and Cannabinoid Profile Preferences and Cannabis Use Practices in Medical Cannabis Patients Who Use Cannabis for Anxiety and Pain.”
