In the first Speaker Series event of the 2023-24 academic year, the Medical Cannabis Research Center welcomed Dr. Lauren Vrabel to discuss what new medical cannabis patients can expect during their first trip to the dispensary.

Dr. Vrabel covered common issues that patients face at a dispensary and issues related to Pennsylvania's Medical Marijuana Program (PAMMJ) including consultations with a pharmacist, different product forms, and other important information.

Dr. Vrabel is a cannabis pharmacist from Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and previously worked in retail pharmacy before she began working in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program in 2018. She started the first pharmacy student rotations in Pennsylvania and lectures at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy on cannabis therapeutics. Dr. Vrabel is a Scientific Advisor at The Cannigma which is a science-based cannabis resource for consumers, and she is a member of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation as well as their liaison to the ASTM International D37 Committee on Cannabis.
