Pot Use Seems to Contribute to More Severe Cases of COVID-19, Study Finds

UPI, June 21, 2024

Stephen Lankenau, PhD, professor in the Dornsife School of Public Health and co-director of the Medical Cannabis Research Center, was quoted in a June 21 UPI story about a new study suggesting that marijuana may contribute to more severe cases of COVID-19.

The study's findings about marijuana should be interpreted "with a bit of caution as indicated by the authors in the limitations section" of their report, said Dr. Lankenau, who was not involved in the study.
