The Westphal College will be quite active in this year’s
DesignPhiladelphia
, the annual citywide celebration of design and creative activity. Our participation will include the
Design Research Symposium
on Friday October 14th in the
URBN Center
.
On Thursday, October 13th, be sure to attend the Architecture & Interiors Arfaa Lecture featuring a panel with Harris Steinberg, Distinguished Teaching Professor and the Executive Director of the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation, and Gerard Sweeney, President of Brandywine Realty Trusts. Starting at 6:30pm in the Mandell Theater, the subject is Town and Gown: Creating Schuylkill Yards focusing in on the major development plans for West Philadelphia being led by Drexel in partnership with Brandywine.
Earlier that day, from 4-6pm at the URBN Center join the Drexel Department of Architecture & Interiors for a presentation and reception of two exciting student design-build projects undertaken this past year: TINY HOUSE / GIANT TOILET.
As the oldest design festival of its kind in the country, DesignPhiladelphia highlights the work of thousands of local designers, architects, and creative professionals to demonstrate Philadelphia’s reemergence as a 21st century city shaped by thoughtful design, collaborative business practices, and community engagement. The DesignPhiladelphia Festival emerged in 2005 to identify, celebrate and raise the profile of this city’s 50,000+ creative economy.
