January 25, 2016 — The Drexel Gospel Choir will pay tribute to the late Reverend Andre Crouch, the multi-Grammy Award winner who is often described as the “father of modern gospel music,” in a free-to-the-public concert on Saturday, February 13 at 5:00pm in the Mandell Theater (33^rd & Chestnut Streets). A successful vocal arranger, songwriter, choir leader and pastor, Rev. Crouch was best known to the public for his choral work with Michael Jackson and Madonna.Don’t be surprised if you’re asked to join in with the choir as they honor Rev. Crouch’s legacy with chart-topping selections.

Led by Reverend Gregory Ross, the Drexel Gospel Choir is an open group of 60-70 singers that performs contemporary gospel music.  An Evening of African American Music will feature selections such as “I Don’t Know Why,” “Let the Church Say Amen,” and “Soon and Very Soon,” which was performed by Rev. Crouch’s choir at Michael Jackson’s funeral in 2009. The Drexel jazztet will also join the performance.
