Almost, Maine
January 25, 2016
January 25, 2016 — In the town of Almost, Maine, residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. The Drexel Co-Op Theatre company will present ALMOST, MAINE, John Cariani’s critically acclaimed play, with performances on February 12 through February 20 in the URBN Annex Black Box Theatre (3401 Filbert Street). Knees will be bruised. Hearts will be broken. But bruises can heal, and the heart can mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream directed by Professor Nick Anselmo. And, if you happen to be looking for a valentine to see the show with, stop into the Co-op Theatre’s Speed Dating event on February 2. The New York Times has called ALMOST, MAINE “a whimsical approach to the joys and perils of romance,” where “magical happenings bloom beneath the snowdrifts.”
The play was developed at the Cape Cod Theater Project in 2002 and received its world premiere at Portland Stage Company, where it broke box office records and garnered widespread praise. Interestingly, Drexel Entertainment & Arts Management professor Brannon Wiles served as General Manager for both the world premiere of ALMOST, MAINE and for its original Off-Broadway production at the Daryl Roth Theatre.
In the Co-Op Theatre’s production, three musicians will provide live music under the direction of Rutgers University professor Stefan Orn Arnarson.
Click here to purchase tickets to ALMOST, MAINE, which are $15 General Admission, $10 for non-Drexel students/Industry, and $5 for Drexel students, faculty and staff.
