Fling to the Finish April 03, 2018 For over 10 years, Drexel's Game Design & Production programs have been ranked among the top game design programs in the U.S. by Princeton Review. Both the undergraduate and graduate Game Design programs were recognized, again, this year—the only university in Pennsylvania to receive this honor. This news comes as we celebrate Game Design & Production juniors Ryan McMahon, Andre Edgarian, Utkarsh Dwivedi and Benjamin Spurr on taking home the top Gameplay Prize at the Intel University Games Showcase. Teams from universities across the country including from NYU, USC, and Carnegie Mellon came together at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to compete for cash prizes and hardware grants. Judges assessed the quality of gameplay, visuals, and innovation of more than a dozen student teams. Collectively known as SplitSide Games, Ryan, Andre, Utkarsh, and Ben developed the cooperative racing game, Fling to the Finish, in Drexel’s Entrepreneurial Game Studio. Fling to the Finish won First Place for Gameplay and Third Place for Visual Quality, and the SplitSide Games team brought home a total prize of $12,500 in Intel hardware grants. Fling to the Finish is slated for commercial release in 2018.
