Drexel University has joined Montgomery County Community College’s (MCCC) University Center initiative and will soon offer doctorate, graduate and professional development programs in Pottstown through its School of Education.
At MCCC’s University Center, Drexel will offer a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree in Educational Leadership and Management with six concentration options in Athletic Administration, Educational Policy, Human Resource Development, Educational Administration, Higher Education, and Special Education Leadership. Drexel will also offer two master’s degrees – an M.S. in Learning Technologies and an M.S. in Educational Improvement and Transformation.
In addition, Drexel will offer several professional development Certificates in Pottstown, including Educational Policy and Learning Technologies, with others to come.

First introduced in 2006, MCCC’s University Center framework offers an entrepreneurial approach to expanding higher education opportunities for residents of Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Through partnerships with select four-year institutions, students can choose from eight bachelor’s degrees, four master’s degrees, one graduate certificate, two doctorates and six professional development certificates.
“These partnerships are so important in higher education, and they show a great deal of entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Karen A. Stout, president of MCCC. “The University Center framework builds crucial pathways by which our students and faculty, and the community at large, can conveniently pursue advanced degrees from our outstanding partner colleges and universities.”
“Through the years, our institutions have built a strong partnership, and Drexel has been growing in popularity as a transfer destination for Montgomery County Community College’s graduates, especially as we strive to expand the way our students think about transferring and what they are capable of achieving,” said Stout. “We’re excited to build on our transfer partnership to extend the opportunity of a graduate Drexel education to our graduates, faculty, staff and community at large.”
Drexel University joins five existing University Center partners -- Albright College, which offers programs at MCCC’s campuses in Blue Bell and Pottstown; Immaculata University, which offers a Doctor of Education program at MCCC ‘s Central Campus in Blue Bell; and Chestnut Hill College, Temple University and Villanova University, which offer programs at MCCC’s West Campus in Pottstown.
