Drexel's Public Safety Communications Center has been accredited by CALEA since 2014.

The University community is invited to participate in an evaluation of Drexel’s University Public Safety Communications Center as part of its accreditation process this month.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), will visit Drexel during the week of June 4 to evaluate the Public Safety Communication Center and its policies, procedures, management, operations and support services.

As part of the evaluation, members of the Drexel community and anyone in the area served by Drexel Public Safety are invited to participate by calling 215.571.3596 on June 6, from 1-3 p.m to to offer comments about their experience with the Center. Participants can also submit written comments to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.

Callers are asked to limit their comments to 10 minutes with a specific focus on addressing the Center’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. Communications Accreditation Manager Colin P. Quinn also suggests that participants review some frequently asked questions about the process before calling.

The assessment team is includes law enforcement and public safety communications practitioners from similar agencies across the country. The team will review written materials, interview individuals and visit offices and other locations where compliance can be witnessed.
