Our Clientele
The Drexel Psychological Services Center (PSC) is dedicated to providing high quality, accessible, and affordable psychological services to Philadelphia and surrounding areas. We provide confidential therapeutic and assessment services to individuals and families of all ages and compositions. Our providers and the services we provide strive to be culturally sensitive and compassionate and reflective of our commitment to high standards of professional ethics and competence. We value the similarities and differences among all the people we serve and strive to increase our awareness of how to best serve all people through our training and practice. The PSC accepts clients of all ages (children through older adults) depending on the fit between the needs of the client and the expertise of our staff at any given time.
An Evidence-Based Approach
Mental health providers can use many different assessment and treatment approaches to help people who are suffering from mental health problems. However, not all assessments and treatments are equally effective at evaluating and/or addressing client concerns. Some just work better than others! When seeking out services, it is important to find a provider who will implement a protocol that has a proven history of success at addressing the concerns that you have. Your provider should draw on research, theory, practical experience, and your personal history to select an assessment and/or intervention that is based in theory and has undergone scientific evaluation.
The Drexel PSC is dedicated to using tools, methods, and treatments that have an evidence-base (or scientifically studied base). Our supervisors have expertise in the evidence-based practices implemented in our facility and train our doctoral students to uphold the highest standards when offering these services to you. At times when there is not a clear evaluation procedure or treatment program that is designed to meet your individual needs, we will adapt established procedures and treatments to form a personalized, yet evidence-based, plan for your needs.
Assessment and Treatment Format
Assessments are conducted on an individual basis. Our therapies may be offered in various formats such as individual therapy, group therapy or family therapy. Format will depend on what is most appropriate for the concerns of the clients as well as the treatment protocols being administered.
