With topics ranging from malaria and HIV to spinal cord injury and neuroengineering, more than 400 participants from Drexel University College of Medicine showcased original research at Discovery Day 2018 on Tuesday, October 23.

The research projects represent work from medical students, students in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies, residents, fellows and postdoctoral trainees. Discovery Day was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center to accommodate the large group of presenters this year. After a full day of reviewing posters, judges chose award winners in multiple categories. See this year's winners!
Michael Lauer, MD, delivered the keynote speech on "Thoughts and Perspectives About Extramural Research: People, Money, and Science." Dr. Lauer is deputy director for extramural research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he serves as the principal scientific leader and advisor to the director of the NIH on all matters relating to the substance, quality and effectiveness of the NIH extramural research program and administration.
