  • The Pew Charitable Trusts Awards Grant to Support Geriatric Home Visit Program

    The Pew Charitable Trusts recently awarded Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine a three-year, $150,000 grant to support a home visit program for homebound, low-income seniors in Philadelphia. The newly-created program—Drexel Geriatric Home Visit Model (DGHVM)—combines comprehensive geriatric assessments with home visits for this underserved population. The DGHVM will provide approximately 250-300 home visits during the length of the project.

  • Annual White Coat Ceremony Welcomes New Medical Students to Drexel

    "…These things I do swear or affirm." With those final words of the Hippocratic Oath, Drexel University College of Medicine welcomed 260 new medical students during the annual White Coat Ceremony on August 10. This wonderful tradition is celebrated by medical schools across the country and is an important first step for these future physicians as they receive the traditional symbol of clinical care and service: the white coat.   • Drexel Students Travel to London Paralympic Games

    Nine Drexel University students will travel to London from August 31 through September 8 to see the 2012 Paralympic Games, as part of the travel-integrated course “Perspectives on Disability,” the fourth course in the Great Works Symposium 2012 Series.
