Cohen, MD, president emeritus of the Association of American Medical Colleges, will deliver the keynote address during the commencement ceremony for Drexel University College of Medicine on Friday, May 18 at 9 a.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (Verizon Hall), 260 South Broad Street. He will receive an honorary doctorate from Drexel University.

Bobby Kelly, a fourth-year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine was recently awarded the 2012 LGBT Health Achievement Award, presented annually by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA). The organizations chose Kelly for his efforts to provide opportunities for students, residents, faculty and staff to learn more about LGBT health.

Dennis Novack, MD, professor of medicine and associate dean for medical education, will be honored by the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) with the 2012 SGIM Career Achievement in Medical Education Award. The award recognizes those medical educators whose lifetime contributions have profoundly impacted the field of medical education. The award will be presented at SGIM's annual meeting on May 11th in Orlando.

The annual Drexel University College of Medicine Pediatric AIDS Benefit Concert was a wonderful, fun-filled evening that raised $29,500 for children with HIV and AIDS. More than 425 students, faculty and guests sang, danced, and laughed their way through the February 18th event that showcased a total of 13 acts.

Drexel University College of Medicine's Institute for Women's Health and Leadership has been recognizing outstanding women leaders in the Philadelphia community and raising scholarship funds for talented minority women medical students at Drexel University College of Medicine for 10 years with the Woman One program. This year's Woman One Honoree is community leader Dianne Semingson, who will be honored on Monday, April 23 at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia.
