Professor Aimee Kahan

Biography

Professor Aimée Kahan is especially interested in appellate law and the functioning of the court and judicial systems, bioethics, reproductive rights and the intersection of law and religion.

Before joining the faculty, Professor Kahan practiced appellate law in the state and federal courts with Reed Smith, LLP. While there, she supervised discovery proceedings in the U.S. and Europe and directed legal strategy in complex appellate matters.

She is a member of the International Academic Network on Bioethics, based at the University of Rennes I in France, made up of academics from around the world.

Professor Kahan clerked for the Honorable Edward R. Becker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Prior to law school, she worked as a research assistant at the Center for Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania, where she piloted a study on patient understanding of informed consent.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, she earned the George Schectman Prize for excellence in Contracts and served as associate editor of University of Pennsylvania Law Review.
