Respondus

Drexel has licenses for several Respondus products. These products allow you to easily import quiz questions and answers into Learn, secure the online testing environment and to create interesting (and even entertaining) learning objects.

The software is available for download from the Content Collection within Learn. The navigation path is Content Collection> Institution Content (on the left-hand side)> Software> Respondus.

Respondus 4.0

Respondus 4.0 is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Learn and other eLearning systems. Users build test questions and exams in an easy-to-use interface on their computer. These exams can then be published to multiple sections in Blackboard Learn or printed for in-class delivery.

Important points of note:

  • Respondus is currently available only for Windows users.
  • You will need to open the “README_RespondusLicenseInfo” to enter the licensing information when prompted.
  • You will also need to follow the instructions in the “README_SP11Patch” file so that Respondus is compatible with Learn. You will be downloading the “Campus-wide Version” of the patch from the Respondus site.

Respondus LockDown Browser

The Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the end users’ computers while taking a test within Learn. Students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, open other browser windows, or access other applications. Students can download and install Respondus LockDown Browser on their own computers when they access an exam that has been set up with the RLB requirement.

At Drexel, all Korman Center computers have Respondus LockDown Browser pre-installed.

StudyMate Class Server — This is touted as the "ultimate study group" for Learn courses where teachers and students can easily create study materials (including games) in a web-based, collaborative environment. It is accessed directly in Blackboard Learn as an additional tool. This is the recommended version to use, as opposed to StudyMate Author.

StudyMate Author 2.0 — Instructors can easily create Flash-based activities and games using simple templates. The Flash activities are usable with any web server or can be published directly to Learn. Study Mate Author is essentially the earlier version of Study Mate Class Server, without the collaboration features.

Respondus Test Bank Network

The Respondus Test Bank Network contains over 1500 test banks for the leading textbooks in higher education. The test banks are in Respondus format and can be downloaded for free by instructors who are using a participating textbook. The Test Bank Network is accessed through the Respondus.com website.
