Happy New Year and Welcome to Winter 2016
January 5, 2016
I'd like to extend a warm welcome back after what I hope was a rejuvenating break. Goodwin College is poised for a stimulating Winter 2016 quarter, with much of the credit due to the accomplishments we already made during the fall. Now entering the second term of the First-Year Exploratory Studies program, our Drexel Explorers are starting to choose their academic tracks—either STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), or Business, Social Science and Humanities. We're excited to see where these new paths will lead them. We are also delighted to observe some rapidly growing interest in the program among early decision candidates for the 2016-2017 incoming class, and look forward to meeting some of these prospective Dragons through open houses and on-campus visits.
In other news, we are working toward customizing our degree completion programs to better support student veterans, granting equivalent college credit for verifiable life experiences such as serving in the military. Building on our reputation to provide opportunities to non-traditional students, this quarter we are also offering an array of non-credit, continuing professional education courses, including Lean Six Sigma and preparation for the Project Management Institute CAPM® and PMP® exams.
Lastly, we invite you to stay tuned for program developments in the near future as we consider reentering the graduate-level academic sphere. We anticipate unveiling new curricula throughout 2016 and hope you will join us in celebration with each upcoming announcement.
I want to thank you for all of your continued hard work and enthusiasm that you contribute to this community. As we pick up momentum this week, I am eager to see what will transpire in what promises to be a terrific quarter here at Goodwin.
Sincerely,
Tim Gilrain
